Zacks' mad fucked up from getting hit by a car in St. Pete. He just got outta the hospital with a titanium rod from his knee to his ankle. Inside his leg. St. Pete's donating him some bucks via a B.E.E.R. fund (bicycle emergency economical relief), we'll be too - details soon.
Fuck the "too-cools" who made me too ashamed to like folk punk. Growing up is still giving up.

maybe somewhat more serious
old poster for deland's BIKE ATTACK - a cm-style bike ride
after being in orlando for 2.5 years now i really miss how it was 2.5 years ago. remember how much people used to hang out and how positive everyone used to be? when it was okay to like folk punk and love life? when everyone was too young to go to bars (i know some still are). when people were inspired and happy all the time?
i was talking to keri the other day and she was talking about how pretty her camping trip was and felt the need to use the disclaimer: "it sounds pretty cheesy, but..." - when i moved here people used to BRAG about being awestruck by nature.
"What are the tyrannies you swallow day by day and attempt to make your own, until you will sicken and die of them, still in silence? "
-audre lorde
why does everyone smoke now? why is everyone stopping being vegan? why the fuck is everyone so apathetic now?
*"everyone" in this case is used to describe a set of people observed to have these listed traits - accept it as a generalization, not empirical data

Get It!
Polo tonight was savage - we're all totally rusty and metha still is the mvp - by far haha
-rule #1: if you're on metha's team, you can't talk shit.
selling my aerospoke and van to save up for the pista concept "race" bike - while turning the pake into the "trick" bike. more later.
rode the triple out last night, but when riding back this morning, it wouldn't stop throwing the chain. this got really scary as you'd be 7 and change feet up (head more like 10ish) with no means of "go' or "stop" in traffic. eesh. walked home from ethos after a failed 1.5 mi. ride from kaysie's casa. 4.5 miles walked - found a 24" beach cruiser with 2 flats in a dumpster. score - made it all worth it. got home - fixed the flat on the pake and went out again. haven't been at carlton for more than 20 minutes (excluding fnb) for awhile.
sifg.

CHILLY FUCKER // STORMCROW // ENSLAVED IN DARKNESS
Today was pretty chilly, and, like every year, i'm in great spirits from it! Cold=Feeling good for me for some weird reason - could be some nostalgic thing, maybe not. I've been digging Stormcrow's Enslaved in Darkness so hard. I'd heard the title track and dug it for awhile, but the context of the whole album makes the whole package so sweet. It's sludgy, brutal stenchcore, in the vein of early 90's Prophecy of Doom style with a healthy spoonful of axegrinder too i think. Got the nastiest bass tone for sure.

OF GONE AND GOING // STOKED ON SHIT
Been really stoked on this record this week - this is Japan's Iconoclast - not US's. Raw ass effigy-meets-some-d-beating crust-styled insanity. Mad good.
Also been addicted to 7" Crust and all the associated free record d/l blogs. Building back all I lost in two computer crashes (crasher computer) and a move or two. Feeling good about it.

OKAY so I'm going to try not to goat to hoops tonight.
Dear Allie: "gingers are the new rollerblades."
----------
I feel kind of nauseous. Got mark a bunch of funny shit for his birthday:
a handsaw with a shark on it
a mini-maglite
pack of magic: the gathering cards
little parachuter figurines
belt buckle with bottle opener (bro as fuck)
wallet chain
big bag of candy
gonna give him some bananas too, for good measure
o and if you read this, don't tell him theres a surprise party for him.

100 BONES // BIKE SALAD
been digging this so hard
After little sleep, today's been mad nice. Cooked up a meal that couldn't be beat with fnb, lost power for a second, loaded the whole of two and a half kitchens into the truck then the power came back on, re-set up, cooked, rode my bike in front of the house with like 15 people, rode bryan's bike around and did barspins out of everything, rode a bmx bike, ate dank food. drank more coffee, cleaned up, went up to ethos to czech my schedule, emailed corey to set up another appointment to finish up my chest (see a post or two ago), looked up busfares to places, FINALLY got that zouo side of the gai/zouo split, gave Antisect's "out from the void" a shot and i think it's the best of theirs i've heard. I really dug In darkness, there is no choice, and kind of left it there, then I downloaded out from the void some 2 years later (and the two releases were 2 years apart) and how different it was - more metallic and crust for sure.
----------
I also met a guy from fall out boy last night, haaaaaaa awkward.

FAILED PASSAGE TO DELAND
I don't even know!
Yesterday, I made plans to get up to DeLand to see my folks - and it'd be the first time in about 4 months. I figured my sureshot way there was by way of the amtrak - as as my research revealed, that'd be about eight bucks. For the fun of it (and to save eight bucks), I thought i'd give riding my thumb a shot, and stood at the I-4 East onramp for two-ish hours with no luck! Bogus! Undeterred, I shot up towards the Park Ave. amtrak station and got caught in a quick downpour (and I was carrying my much larger, much less water resistant backpack - with laptop inside) so I ducked into Skycraft for a second and was (as usual) floored by how cool that place is. When the rain stopped I checked my watch and the train had already left.
I called up my mom to tell her and she was bummed out so she came up and we hung out and had some food. My dad got off work shortly thereafter and we met up with him too.
Going to try again for DeLand later sunday.
----------
Later on that night I got drunked on some Yeung-a-ling with some friends at hoops and exchanged identities and laughed a lot.

Sometimes I Feel Great // SIFG
So in recompiling all the music i've lost over this life of mine, i've gotten way back into some shit that made me SO stoked on everything back in the day, and guess what? I'm stoked on life now too! It's not like I wasn't, It's kind of more like when you wake up and go outside and remember how fucking good the sun feels on yr tired frame.
Going to Chicago on November 13th, still gotta buy a ticket, and oh boy do I know someone who'd be sore I didn't do it yet, but with any luck she won't read this.
----------
I've got two radio shows in progress, Next post for the musical one, I swear! It's got a decent mix of stuff, maybe not as much as the first show, but still not just stinky apocalyptic crasher crust. You may see bands like Gai, Frigora, Hüsker Dü, Napalm Death, Assuck, Conflict, JFA and Environmental Youth Crunch, but you didn't hear it from me.
The 2nd show is a bunch of fake commercials me and Daniel made up - one is about dick pills. It's great. Oh the wonders of garage band.

Double Nickles on the Dime
Radio show next post i think - maybe...
"On the back of a winged horse
through the sky, pearly grey
love is leaf-like
you and me baby
twinkle twinkle
blah blah blah
E, T, C."
stoked to "reimburse" my past music collection - been hard at work downloading my past lives, songs at a time. I re-got minutemen - double nickles on the dime, hüsker dü - zen arcade, jfa's "we know you suck," woody guthrie's "dust bowl ballads," and "ballads of sacco and vanzetti," napalm death's "from enslavement to obliteration." and a neverbeforehad frigora/diskonto split - didn't even know it existed!
----------
I went to see the sketch for my next tattoo yesterday with keri - it looks fucking awesome. Corey McLeod is the shit and totally made some sweetness. It's a wood stork wading in a swamp next to a bunch of cypress knees and there's a cypress tree in the back. It's awesome. Pics soon.

This is the first
I don't really use lj anymore and it seems like most of my friends are on here - and i'm on here in other amounts for the yabai blog and the mono-entry dbags blog. So here's to being modern haaaaaaa.
Newest me news is about the bug to roam and I've got it. Even staying here i move around all the time. I can't stay put anymore and I really like it - constant motion and inertia for doing and living. I'm going to really try to get off for the FEST. Then it's up to DeLand again to hang out with my dad for his birthday - then chicago to hang out with maddy for her birthday (and see chicago - mike palmer, what up?!)
I also committed to my "at large" friends from 2006 and back that i'm going to come visit them all within a year - so that's atleast DC and Seattle coming up. Hoorah.
Until then it's been a lot of wake up, get anxious and ride my bike all day, then work, then ride more, then go home to sleep again. Time for some laundry and room cleaning, i think. Yeah .. Right.
New radio show next post - hüsker dü, minutemen, hellbastard, etc.
